John Paul Mills, 86, of 303 Washington Avenue Riverside, PA where he has resided since 1998 died Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2004 in the Bloomsburg Hospital Bloomsburg, PA.  He had previously resided on Lightstreet Road in Bloomsburg, PA for 43 years.  He was born January 23, 1918 in Mount Pleasant Township Columbia County PA the son of the late Andy and Anna Kline Mills. 

He graduated from Millertown High School and served with the United States Army.  He was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church, both of Bloomsburg, PA.  He attended First Baptist Church of Danville, PA. 

Mr. Mills was employed as a spinner at Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg, PA for 33 years and in the Maintenance Department of The Maple Crest Nursing Home Bloomsburg, PA for 11 years where he retired. 

He enjoyed woodworking and making crafts.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Leah Pearl Martenas whom he married November 28, 1942.  He is also survived by two daughters; Nancy E. and son-in-law Walter Bowen of Riverside, PA and Joyce M. and son-in-law the Reverend Frank Mohr, Jr. of Absecon, NJ.  Also surviving are six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers; Eugene Mills and Robert Mills. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon from the Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA with the Reverend David J. Mouw, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church Danville, PA officiating.  Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park Lime Ridge, PA.  Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund 20 Brookside Drive Danville, PA 17821.
