Dorothy R. Thomas, 86

Dorothy R. Thomas, 83, of 6 Lindsey Avenue Danville PA where she had resided since 2001 and formerly of 501 W. Market Street Danville PA died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Nottingham Village Nursing Center in Northumberland PA.  She was born March 21 1925 in Elysburg PA the daughter of the late Charles A. and Catherine A. Leisenring Richard.

She graduated from Ralpho Township High School in 1943 and Geisinger School of Nursing in 1946.  She was employed for a few years by Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. 

She was married for 40 years to the late Donald M. Thomas who preceded her in death August 8 1987.  They were married June 7 1947. 

Mrs. Thomas was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Danville PA where she taught Sunday School and weekday Church School.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing and cooking.

She is survived by three sons; Richard C. Thomas and his wife Sandy of Murraysville PA; Charles L. Thomas and his wife Linda of Austin TX and John L. Thomas and his wife Wendi of Richboro PA and one daughter; B. J. Thomas McMillan and her husband William of Norman OK.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Christine, Bret, Donald M., Julie, John, Justin and Stephanie and one great-grandson Graeme.  She is also survived by one sister Carol McLean of Reston VA.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother Donald G. Richard in January of 2008.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Monday August 18,  2008 at 11:00AM from Trinity Lutheran Church 215 E Market Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend Michael A. Greenauer officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the chapel of the church.  Memorial contributions may be madeto either Trinity Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society Montour Unit 1948 E 3rd Street Williamsport PA  17701.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
