Charles H. Laver, 88

Charles H. Laver, 88, of 1848 Hill Road Millville PA and also a resident of Grandview Nursing Home Danville PA for the past 18 months died Tuesday morning, June 12, 2007 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  He was born June 12, 1919 in Muncy PA the son of the late Charles H. and Maude Lundy Laver, Sr. 

He graduated from Muncy High School in 1937.  After graduating from high school, he was employed for one year by the Muncy Post Office.  Mr. Laver then relocated to Oak Ridge Tennessee where he was employed as a bookkeeper by the Stone and Webster Construction Company during World War II.  In 1945 he returned to the Millville area and was employed as a bookkeeper by the former Sones Lumber Company which became the Niles Lumber Company and then the Myers Lumber Company where he retired in 1981. 

Mr. Laver was a member of the Millville United Methodist Church where for many years he served as an usher coordinator.  He was also a member of the Millville Fire Company. 

Mr. Laver was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lois Holdren Laver whom he married November 22, 1943.  Also surviving is one son, C. George Laver and his wife Judi of Rome NY and one daughter, Saundra Lewis and her husband W. Jack Lewis of Danville PA.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; Mark Ludwig of York, PA; Nancy Miller of Rome NY; Michelle Reichner of Millville PA; Jeffrey Laver of New York NY and Maria Hayes of Millville PA and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Margaret Neidig and Lola Bowman.  Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 15 2007 at 12:00 Noon from the Millville United Methodist Church State Street Millville PA with his pastor the Reverend Richard D. Leonard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Millville Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 10:30 until 11:45 AM at the church.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Millville United Methodist Church PO Box 470 Millville PA 17846.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
