Ruth M. Heiss, 88, of 210 Oak Street Danville, PA died Thursday morning, March 18, 2004 at her residence.  She was born October 26, 1915 in Danville, PA the daughter of the late Leroy A. and Bessie Bloom Moyer. 

She graduated from Danville High School in 1933 and the Geisinger School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1937.  She was employed as a registered nurse in the Urology Department of Geisinger Medical Center where she retired in 1985.  Mrs. Heiss was a member of St. Paulís-Emmanuel United Methodist Church Danville, PA.  She was also a member of the Acacia Club and the Golden Agers.  Mrs. Heiss enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, knitting and quilting. 

She was married for 38 years to the late William E. Heiss who died August 7, 1968.  She is survived by three sons; William A. Heiss and daughter-in-law Patricia of Hummelstown, PA; David T. Heiss and daughter-in-law Kathy of Bloomsburg, PA and Peter G. Heiss and daughter-in-law Judy of Florence, Kentucky.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.  In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristin Martinez on April 5, 1999 and one sister; Martha Sandberg in 1950.

Memorial services will be held Monday, March 22, 2004 from the St. Paulís-Emmanuel United Methodist Church East Mahoning  and Pine Streets Danville, PA with her pastor the Reverend Dr. S. David Simon officiating.  Burial will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Friends will be received Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paulís Ė Emmanuel United Methodist Church PO Box 271 Danville, PA  17821.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA.
