August 2, 2009

Richard Lee Woodruff, 66, of 307 Sharp Ridge Road, Mayberry Township, Danville PA went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning August 2, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.  Richard was a lifelong farmer, farming at the present location since 1971.  He was born on December 26, 1942 in Danville PA the son of the late Lee and Alice Campbell Woodruff.

Richard married Betty Hoy on April 27, 1968.  He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church Mayberry Township where he served several terms on the church council.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1960.  He was a member of both the Danville FFA and the Mayberry 4H Club where he had chicken, pig and wheat projects.  He enjoyed farming with his father and later with his two sons.  Richard enjoyed going to flea markets and to cattle and equipment auctions.  He also enjoyed Sunday drives and visiting family and friends.  Richard enjoyed hunting and in later years, especially looked forward to stopping by Markís Butcher Shop to socialize or to lend a hand.  He was always ready to help a neighbor or a relative.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He really enjoyed trips to the cabin in New York.
