Helen J. Kane, 79, of 208 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA died Saturday morning, March 20, 2004, at her home.  She was born August 8, 1924 in Danville, PA the daughter of the late Charles D. and Mabel E. Mills Wildsmith.     

She graduated from Danville High School in 1941.  She retired from Danville State Hospital where she had been employed as a psychiatric aide.  Mrs. Kane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Danville, PA.    

An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing and also enjoyed ceramics and gardening.  Mrs. Kane was especially fond of her time spent with her family.     

She was married to the late William H. Ryan, Sr.  who died October 13, 1978.  She is survived by her second husband of 22 years, John F. Kane, whom she married November 28, 1981.

Mrs. Kane is survived by two sons; Charles Ryan and his wife Bette of Berwick, PA and Robert Ryan and his wife Ellen of Danville, PA and four daughters; Susan Ryan of Danville, PA; Sandra Sheppard of Palmyra, NJ, Joni Bishop of Graterford, PA and Jane Wahley of Mineral, VA.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are  three brothers; Charles E. Wildsmith of Alva, FL; Ira E. Wildsmith of Newalla,OK and Joseph N. Wildsmith of Philadelphia, PA and two sisters; Lois Ruch of Staunton, VA  and Patricia Corrigan of Wilburton, PA.  She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Judith Ryan of Berwick, PA.  In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by one son; William H. Ryan, Jr. in 1988. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM from St. Joseph Catholic Church 18 E. Center Street Danville, PA with the Reverend William M. Weary officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends will be received Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM at Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 PM conducted by Holly Billet, pastoral assistant.  Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph Manor 600 Schoolhouse Road Danville, PA  17821 or Geisinger Hospice Memorial Fund 100 North Academy Avenue Danville, PA  17822.
