Susan Ann (Stocum) Dick

January 11, 2021

Susan Ann (Stocum) Dick of Riverside, PA passed away peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior in the presence of her family at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA on Sunday January 10, 2021 after battling the coronavirus.

Sue was born June 1, 1946 in Jersey Shore, PA to Leon Leroy and Sigrid Anna (Wayrynyn) Stocum.

She was a 1964 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and a 1967 graduate of the Williamsport School of Nursing.  She worked as an RN at Williamsport Hospital, where she met and married Francis Joseph Dick in 1969.  She went on to work at Geisinger Medical Center, Gold Star Nursing Home, Grandview Nursing Home, and later Maria Joseph Manor, Mansion Nursing Home, and the Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehab in Danville, PA.  She retired from nursing in 2011.

Sue was active in her community, playing flute with the American Legion Band, later the Danville Community Band, since 1983.  She served as band historian.  She greatly enjoyed traveling with the band and connecting with others through music, having visited Germany four times on band exchanges and hosting musicians from Germany three times.  She was a member of the Danville Kiwanis Club, where she served as secretary.  She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville, where she served as a CCD teacher and volunteered with the Good Samaritan Mission. Her faith and family were her most important blessings, and she was a support and comfort to many in her life.  She was also an avid reader, her favorite stories being ones of inspirational courage.

She will be greatly missed by Frank, her husband of 51 years, and her three children, daughter Michele Marie Comisiak (Jonathan) of Edgewood, MD and sons Christopher David (Tanya) of Harrisburg, PA and Michael Patrick of Bloomsburg, PA; her grandchildren, Kathleen, Jessica, and Jackson; her brother Quentin (Larry Ferree) Stocum of Mill Hall, PA, sister Faye Stocum of Dover, DE, and half-brother David (Laura) Stocum of Indianapolis, IN; as well as a niece and nephews.

A spring or summer Mass and memorial service is being planned.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105-9959 or online at www.stjude.org.
