Susan Ann (Stocum) Dick of Riverside, PA passed away peacefully into the
hands of her Lord and Savior in the presence of her family at the Geisinger
Medical Center in Danville, PA on Sunday January 10, 2021 after battling the
coronavirus.
Sue was born June 1, 1946 in Jersey Shore, PA to Leon Leroy and Sigrid Anna
(Wayrynyn) Stocum.
She was a 1964 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and a 1967 graduate of
the Williamsport School of Nursing. She worked as an RN at Williamsport
Hospital, where she met and married Francis Joseph Dick in 1969. She went
on to work at Geisinger Medical Center, Gold Star Nursing Home, Grandview
Nursing Home, and later Maria Joseph Manor, Mansion Nursing Home, and the
Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehab in Danville, PA. She retired from
nursing in 2011.
Sue was active in her community, playing flute with the American Legion
Band, later the Danville Community Band, since 1983. She served as band
historian. She greatly enjoyed traveling with the band and connecting with
others through music, having visited Germany four times on band exchanges
and hosting musicians from Germany three times. She was a member of the
Danville Kiwanis Club, where she served as secretary. She was a longtime
member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville, where she served as a CCD
teacher and volunteered with the Good Samaritan Mission. Her faith and
family were her most important blessings, and she was a support and comfort
to many in her life. She was also an avid reader, her favorite stories
being ones of inspirational courage.
She will be greatly missed by Frank, her husband of 51 years, and her three
children, daughter Michele Marie Comisiak (Jonathan) of Edgewood, MD and
sons Christopher David (Tanya) of Harrisburg, PA and Michael Patrick of
Bloomsburg, PA; her grandchildren, Kathleen, Jessica, and Jackson; her
brother Quentin (Larry Ferree) Stocum of Mill Hall, PA, sister Faye Stocum
of Dover, DE, and half-brother David (Laura) Stocum of Indianapolis, IN; as
well as a niece and nephews.
A spring or summer Mass and memorial service is being planned.
