Maurice S. “Maury” Geary, 83, died peacefully at home on June 26,2021.
Maurice was born and raised in Danville PA, the son of the late Samuel and
Leona Carl Geary. He resided in Rush Twp as a husband, father, grandfather,
and farmer until his death.
He graduated from Danville Area High School in 1955. He was employed at TRW
in Danville PA. He served his country in the Army Reserve from 1959-1960.
Maurice was married for 57 years to his devoted wife, Sandra Hess Geary from
Nescopeck PA. They were married October 19, 1963.
After his marriage, he took a position with Lakes to Sea Continental
Trailways. In 1967, he purchased the farm where he was raised. In 1980,
he and Sandy purchased his homestead along with an adjoining farm where
farming became his livelihood and passion, which was where he had currently
resided until his death. In addition to farming nearly 300 acres, he drove
for King Coal Trailways from the mid-1990s until retiring in the early
2000s. Maurice was also a landlord along with his wife for over 60 years.
He attended Rush Baptist Church in Danville PA for many years. He was a
lifetime Mason for over 50 years of the Elysburg Masonic Lodge #349. He was
also a member of the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg PA.
He had a relentless work ethic and will be remembered as a dedicated father
who cared deeply for his wife, children and grandchildren, all of whom he

raised on the family farm: Maurice “Todd” Geary and his wife Rebecca Ritchie
Geary of Danville PA and their children Todd James “TJ” and Samantha “Sam”
and Malinda Geary Ferko and her husband Michael and their children Michael
J. and Zane A. of Warwick NY. He is also survived by one sister, Janet
McAfee of Danville and two brothers: Roger Geary of Churchville VA and
Lawrence Geary of Plano TX.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ellie Paige Ferko of Warwick.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Maury’s Life to
be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at Rush Baptist Church 410
Rushtown Road Danville PA with his pastor, the Reverend Hugh C. Coulbourn,
Jr. officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at

Burial will follow in Jacobs Church Cemetery in Paxinos PA. Masonic
Services will be held at 11:45 AM. Military Rites will be accorded by the
American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to
Elysburg Masonic Lodge #349 292 East Valley Avenue Elysburg PA 17824 or
Rush Baptist Church.
