John R. Daugherty

John R. Daugherty, 83, of Riverside PA and formerly of Branchport, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA   He was born December 26, 1937 in Penn Yan NY, the son of the late Meck Fletcher and Helen Z. Merrifield Daugherty.  

John graduated from Prattsburgh High School in Steuben County NY and earned his Associates Degree in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 22 years in 1996, the late Gail Roberts Daugherty, whom he married August 5, 1972.

John was self-employed as a barber which gave him much joy.

He attended Grove Presbyterian Church in Danville PA. 

John thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball up until the age of 67 as well as watching it.  He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.  John found great pleasure in watching old western movies.  His greatest joy in life were his grandchildren.

He was an invested listener and radiated much warmth to all he met in his profession and all throughout his life.  He was always up for an ice cream cone and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two sons: Jeffrey A. Daugherty of Alcoa TN and John W. Daugherty and his wife, Megan of Riverside PA as well as two grandchildren:  Harmony A. Daugherty of Penn Yan NY and Meck Fletcher Daugherty of Riverside PA.   Also surviving is one brother, Mark Daugherty of Branchport NY and his forever devoted brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.   Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
