Jerome "Jerry" William Lemon

Jerome “Jerry” William Lemon, 95, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 in Danville PA. He was born October 15, 1925 in his family homestead in Bloomsburg PA the son of the late Karl Elliott and Martha Beyer Lemon.

Jerry graduated from Scott Township High School in Espy PA in 1943.      

He served his country in the United States Army.

Jerry was married to his devoted wife of 71 years, Doris May Gerringer Lemon.  They were married June 4, 1949.

In earlier years, he was employed as a clerk with the Charles Evans Appliance Store in Bloomsburg, PA.  After moving to Danville, he was employed by Merck and Company and as an electrician for the Danville State Hospital, from where he retired in June of 1986. 

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville where he served as Deacon for over 18 years, was a member of numerous committees, and was always willing to help when called upon.   

An active contributor to his community, Jerry was well-known and highly active in the Danville Area Little League where he touched many young lives and became known as the “coach we will never forget”.  He was the pitcher for the Danville and Bloomsburg Softball teams for many years.  His upkeep on the Little League fields was significant. He was awarded “fan of the year” as it was exceedingly rare for him to miss any Danville sporting event.  One of Jerry’s greatest enjoyments was going to the beach and attending yard sales with his wife.  He was a talented woodworker and shared this gift with many.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, Arthur Gerringer and his wife Debbie and Ray Gerringer and his wife Melanie; both of Danville and two nieces; Kathy Rohm of Bloomsburg, PA and Lori Wright of Exeter, PA.   He is also survived by his close friends, Rhonda and Barry Schreiter of Montoursville PA as well as many great- nieces and great- nephews and their families.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Karlene Wright and one special nephew, Butch Coira.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:30AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 215 East Market Street, Danville, PA 17821 with the Reverend Trevor Hahn officiating.   There will be no viewing.  Friends and family may view his service remotely by Facebook Livestream at www.facebook.com/visneskifh.  Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery Danville PA. Military rites will be accorded by the Danville American Legion Post 40 and the National Army Honor Guard.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the church or the Danville Area Little League PO Box 224 Danville PA  17821.
