Helen Beverly Royer, 92, of Akron PA passed
away peacefully on February 7, 2021 at her residence. She was born August
8, 1928, the daughter of the late Warren V. and Mabel F. Mertz Smith.
She graduated from Hempfield High School in
Landisville PA.
She was preceded in death by her devoted
husband of 65 years, who she always referred to as her “boyfriend”. William
W. Royer on August 23, 2016. They were married January 14, 1951.
She was a member of Grace Evangelical Church in
Akron PA.
Her other memberships included of the American
Legion Auxiliary, a founding member of the Akron Civic Women’s Club.
She was employed as a medical secretary for
Heritage Surgical Associates in Ephrata, PA from 1956 until her retirement
in February of 2000.
Helen will be remembered for her passionate
spirit and her love of life and family. She loved going to the beach and
the pool and taught many children in Akron how to swim. An adventurous
woman, at the age of 90, she experienced zip-lining. Helen cherished the
time spent going to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they
participated in various sports. Her legacy will remain alive with the wisdom
and real-life lessons she portrayed to all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters: Rebecca
Perruquet of Danville PA and Bobbie Rabuck and her husband Bradley of
Ephrata PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Jamie, Jessi, Jill,
Mallory, Scott, Joshua, and William, all of whom she adored. She is also
survived by 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
A Celebration of Helen’s life will be private
and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap
National Cemetery alongside her husband in Annville, PA.
Because of Helen’s love of teaching children to
