Helen Beverly Royer

February 8, 2021

Helen Beverly Royer, 92, of Akron PA passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 at her residence.  She was born August 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Warren V. and Mabel F. Mertz Smith.

She graduated from Hempfield High School in Landisville PA.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, who she always referred to as her “boyfriend”. William W.  Royer on August 23, 2016.  They were married January 14, 1951.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Church in Akron PA.

Her other memberships included of the American Legion Auxiliary, a founding member of the Akron Civic Women’s Club.

She was employed as a medical secretary for Heritage Surgical Associates in Ephrata, PA from 1956 until her retirement in February of 2000.

Helen will be remembered for her passionate spirit and her love of life and family.  She loved going to the beach and the pool and taught many children in Akron how to swim.  An adventurous woman, at the age of 90, she experienced zip-lining.  Helen cherished the time spent going to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they participated in various sports. Her legacy will remain alive with the wisdom and real-life lessons she portrayed to all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters: Rebecca Perruquet of Danville PA and Bobbie Rabuck and her husband Bradley of Ephrata PA.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Jamie, Jessi, Jill, Mallory, Scott, Joshua, and William, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.

A Celebration of Helen’s life will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery alongside her husband in Annville, PA.

Because of Helen’s love of teaching children to swim, memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Area Community Center, 1041 Liberty Street, Danville, PA, 17821 or The American Legion Post 429, 300 Cocalico Street, PO Box 601, Ephrata, PA, 17522.

Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 W. Mahoning Street, Danville, PA 17821.
