William Samuel Geise

January 29, 2020

William Samuel Geise, Sr., 82, of Northumberland PA was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at his residence.  He was born in Northumberland PA, the son of the late Samuel and Margaret Edgar Geise.

Bill is survived by the love of his life, Mollie Troxell Geise, whom he married January 16, 1960. They recently, along with their family and friends, joyfully celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Bill graduated from Northumberland High School in 1955, where he and Mollie were voted Most Likely to Succeed.

He was a self-employed farmer for all of his life and the owner and operator of Geise's Sweet Corn Farm for 32 years. He worked alongside his wife, his son and daughter, and his grandchildren as well as many young people in the area. He made a huge difference in their lives by demonstrating the value of a strong work ethic.

Bill's legacy will remain alive in all the work he accomplished at his church and in his community. Bill was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Danville PA where he was in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, served on the board of trustees and was instrumental on the building committee when the church relocated to Valley Township. He was a founding member of the Tuckahoe Fire Company in Northumberland, served on the Point Township Board of Supervisors for 16 years and as president of the Northumberland Farmland Preservation Program for several years. Bill served on the Northumberland County Agricultural Security Area Committee and assisted eight other counties in forming their own security areas. He was chairman of the PA Pork Producers and also served on the PA Farm Bureau Board for eight years where he and Mollie were selected as the 2015 recipients for the state-wide honor of the Distinguished Local Affairs Leader Award. He also served on the Northumberland County Farm Bureau for 32 years where he served as president.

Known by his family as Mr. Fixit, he would always lend a hand of support to any of them when the need arose. He made sure to go above and beyond for everyone that he encountered. Bill was deeply devoted to his family; he cherished his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was known as a selfless man with a generous heart and a kind spirit.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, William S. Geise Jr., and his wife Marti of Northumberland PA, and one daughter, Betsy Buckley and her husband Earl of Campbell NY. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Melissa Geise, Sarah McDonald and her husband Tyler of Bridgeport PA, and Emma Buckley, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jonathan Geise.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville PA (off Rt. 642 East) with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Relatives and friends will be received at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Burial will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland PA. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Danville or WPGM Radio, PO Box 236, Danville PA 17821.
