Walter John “Jack”
Ditzler, Jr., 83, of Danville, PA passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at
his residence. He was born May 7, 1937, in Reading, PA, son of the late
Walter John and Eleanor Christian Ditzler, Sr.
He was married for
39 years to Jeanne Hinkel Ditzler They were classmates together since 7th
grade and reunited again at their 25th High School Reunion.
John graduated
from Danville High School in 1955. He attended Bucknell University and
graduated from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in Business.
He served his
country in the United States Army Reserves.
He was
self-employed at Ditzler’s Stationery Store in Danville for many years. His
other employment included Kennedy Van Saun where he worked as an
Accountant.
John, along with
his wife, Jeanne, shared a love of health and fitness and could be seen
walking daily in Danville, PA. He was an avid bird watcher and bird lover
and adored the sanctuary he created in his backyard. John was a faithful,
devoted ,caring husband, step-father, brother, uncle and friend whose memory
will remain with all those who knew him.
In addition to his
wife, he is survived by one step-son, Scott William Moore and his wife
Nellie and one step-daughter, Kelly J. Moreland in Ithaca NY. Also
surviving are four grandchildren; Olivia and Geneva Moreland and William and
Joshua Moore. Also surviving are two sisters; Marianne Frank and her
husband, John of Reading PA and Jane Ditzler and her companion Larry Garrett
of Marblehead MA. He is also survived by his cousin James Burns, who was
like a brother to him throughout his life, as well as numerous nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Jensen.
