Stephen G. Steiner, Jr.

Stephen G. Steiner, Jr., 82, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday morning, April 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born at home on January 27, 1938 in Lewis Township, Northumberland County PA the son of the late Stephen G., Sr.  and Verna V. St. Clair Steiner. 

He was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Edna M. Beaver Steiner who preceded him in death April 30, 2018. They were married June 23, 1957. 

Steve worked for C.D. Linder and H. Warshaw and Son’s in Milton. He was also employed for 30 years as a Storeroom Clerk at Danville State Hospital, from where he retired in 1991. 

He was a member of Trinity Oak Grove Lutheran Church Danville PA. He was a lifetime member of Danville Moose Lodge #1133 and a lifetime member of Washington Fire and Hose, Co. 

Steve will be warmly remembered by his family for being a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, all of whom he adored.   

He was an avid reader reading over 3,000 books in his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Steve loved latchhook rug making and many people and organizations in the Danville community received them. 

He is survived by three daughters; June Steiner and her wife, Denise Caldwell of Catawissa PA; Joan Shultz of Danville PA and Jann Swartz and her husband Michael of Danville PA.  Also surviving are her grandchildren; Kara Shultz and her significant other Jamie Strausser, Ori Shultz and his significant other Nicole Setzer, Joshua Swartz and his wife Mallory, and Justin Swartz and his fiancé Stasi. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Jackson Swartz and Scarlette Swartz  with another great grandson Cyrus Strausser to be born in May.   

He is survived by one brother Donald L. Steiner of Sunbury, PA. He was preceded in death by one brother William C. Steiner and one sister, Ruth B. Mordan. 

Relatives and friends may attend a graveside service to be held Tuesday, April 28th at 12:30 PM at the Washingtonville Lutheran Cemetery in Washingtonville PA.  The family will provide flowers.
