Robert L. Stine,
88, of Riverside PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at his
residence with his family present. He was born March 7, 1932 in Danville PA
the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Raup Stine.
He is survived by
his devoted wife of 67 years, Vera Josephine Lormor Stine. They were
married June 5, 1953.
Bob graduated from
Danville High School in 1951.
He served his
country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
He was employed by
the Pennsylvania Railroad in earlier years. He worked as a machinist at KVS
in Danville for several years and for Smith Machine Works from 1965-1993,
from where he retired.
Bob was a member
of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Riverside. His other memberships
included the Danville Moose and was a life member of Southside Fire Company
in Riverside.
An outdoorsman,
Bob loved fishing and boating. His greatest enjoyment was traveling and
camping with his family. His river lot at Camp Shawnee was where he spent
most of his time. Being a machinist for most of his life, he loved tinkering
and fixing anything that was presented to him. A simple man, Bob will be
remembered by all of those who knew him for his kindness and his
selflessness. After retirement, he was the first to clear snow and mow
grass for his friends and neighbors who needed help. He was deeply devoted
to his family and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his
wife, he is survived by one son, Robert L. Stine, Jr. and his wife Debra
Baylor-Stine of Riverside PA and one daughter, Roberta Marks and her
companion Joe Wands of Riverside. He will be deeply missed by his four
grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in
death by one brother, Norman “Pint” Stine and four sisters; Helen Nevius,
Margaret Mottern, and twin sisters; Betty Hinkle and Irene Burr.
Relatives and
friends are invited to a Graveside Service to be held Wednesday, July 1,
2020 at 2:00 PM at Elan Memorial Park 5595 Old Berwick Road Bloomsburg PA
with his nephew, the Reverend Lee Crossley officiating. Military rites will
be accorded. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on
Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West
Mahoning Street Danville PA.
The family
will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
