Robert C. Walter

October 3, 2020

Robert C. Walter, 89, of Sunbury PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2020 at Riverwoods in Lewisburg PA.    He was born November 15, 1930 in Sunbury PA the son of the late Harry F. and Florence E. Mensch Walter.

 He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Erma L. Bingaman Walter.   They were married on April 19, 1952. 

Bob graduated from Sunbury High School in 1948.  He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. 

His work ethic was significant, beginning at the age of nine, which included 17 years at Rothermelís and 17 years at ButterKrust, retiring in 1994.   

He was a member of Rush Baptist Church Danville PA where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir.  His other memberships included Sunbury American Legion 201. 

Bob loved watching John Wayne movies and was well known for his hearty laugh.  He thoroughly enjoyed being a professional grandpa.  His greatest joy in his life was spending time with his family, all of whom he adored. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Robert C. Walter, Jr. and his wife Helen of Selinsgrove PA; Sue L. Herman and her husband Mike of Spring Grove PA; Tom J. Walter and his wife Connie of Folkston GA; and CoraLynn Walter and her significant other Patric Hollenbach, both of Sunbury PA.  Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend an informal Celebration of Bobís Life Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rush Baptist Church 410 Rushtown Road Danville PA. 

The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church and the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516 Topeka KS  66675-8516 or online at woundedwarriorproject.org.
