Robert “Bob”
Alfred Galiley, 92, of Ewing, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded
by his family on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Deborah Hospital in New
Jersey. He was born October 3, 1927 in Catawissa, PA, the son of the late
Joseph Leon and Rachel Elizabeth Snyder Galiley.
He was married to
his devoted wife of 47 years, Lucille Marie Paquette, who preceded him in
death on November 8, 1998.
Bob graduated from
Danville High School in 1944.
He served his
country in the United States Navy for 21 ½ years as an Air Traffic
Controller and Leading Chief.
Bob was a member
of the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Moscow, PA for 25 years before
moving to Texas. He was a Knight of Columbus Life Member as well as an
American Legion Life member. His other memberships included The Moose Club,
VFW and the Friendship Fire Company in Danville.
Family was
extremely important to Bob and he enjoyed being with them for many events,
including visits to Knoebels Amusement Park. He loved to bowl, hunt and
fish and go pick blueberries. An avid sports fan, he closely followed the
Phillies and the Eagles games. His family loved to tease him about
collecting frogs.
He is survived by
one daughter, Rachel Galiley Reither and her husband, George of Ewing, NJ
and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Robin Galiley, of Brazoria, TX. He is
also survived by his four grandchildren, Donald Galiley, Rachel M. Reither,
Robert Galiley III and Ann Reither Cavalancia and their spouses, three
great-grandchildren, Shawn, Elissa and Sara Galiley, all of whom will
greatly miss their Pap-pap. Also surviving is his brother, Gerald Galiley
of Orlando, Florida, and his sister, Elizabeth Galiley Snyder of Danville,
Pa. He will be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, many cousins and
friends whose lives he touched over the years. He was preceded in death by
three sons, Paul, Ronald and Robert Galiley II.
Relatives and
friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held
Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 68 Center
Street Danville, PA with Father Javed Kashif as Celebrant. Friends will be
received from 10:30 AM until the time of Mass at the parish. Interment will
be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville PA at a future
date.
