Richard “Dick” Mensch, 88, of Danville, PA,
passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 26,
2020, at home. He was born in Danville, PA on November 26, 1931. He was
the son of the late Walter F. (Buck) Mensch Sr., and Martha Penman Mensch.
He was married for 67 years to his devoted wife
Grace (Krum) Mensch. They were married July 3, 1953 and made a wonderful
life together raising their family in Danville.
Dick worked for Merck and Company for 37 years
before retiring in 1988. An avid sports lover who went on to become a
semi-professional baseball player. You were sure to find Dick cheering on
his favorite teams which included Penn State football, Duke basketball and
the New York Yankees. He passed on his love of sports to his children and
grandchildren. His backyard was his oasis and he enjoyed sitting and
listening to the birds and watching all of nature’s creatures.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two
sons David Mensch and his wife Debbie of California and Scott Mensch and his
wife Sue of Danville, and two daughters, Jane Yarish and her husband Allen
of Turbotville and Jodi Mensch of New Jersey. Also surviving are three
wonderful grandchildren, Christopher Mensch, Carrie Recla and her husband
Larry, and Phillip Mensch and two beautiful great-grandchildren Isaac and
Grace Recla. He is also survived by his sister-in law Jackie Mensch of
Danville. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter (Bucky) F. Mensch,
Jr.
Services and burial will be private at the
convenience of the family.
