Richard C. Estes, 74, of Mooresburg PA, passed
away on November 27, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA after a
short illness. He was born January 1, 1946 in Middleburg PA the son of the
late Walter and Edith Heim Estes. Richard was the first baby born in
Pennsylvania that year.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years,
Kathleen E. Freas Estes. They were married March 31, 1972.
He graduated from Middleburg High School in
1964. Richard served his country in the United States Navy for four years
during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the National Defense Service
Medal.
Richard was employed at various jobs including
leather cutting and welding for many years. He retired as a machine
operator from American Home Foods in Milton PA where he was employed for 13
years.
He was a member of the Mooresburg United
Methodist Church. Being raised along Penns Creek, Richard became an avid
fisherman. He especially enjoyed time at Fish Camp in New York State
fishing on Lake Ontario.
He enjoyed tinkering with anything that needed
to be fixed, especially lawnmowers and small engines. A tenderhearted, kind
soul, he was always quick to share a joke or funny story. Richard was loved
and befriended by many, and he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one
niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one brother,
William Estes.
Service and burial will be private.
The family will
