Julia J. Hall

Julia J. Hall, 91, of Danville, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall. She was born January 27, 1929 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Sten and Evelyn Mottern Johnson.

She graduated from Danville High School in 1946 and from Geisinger Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard E. “Dick” Hall on August 30, 2002.  They were married on September 11, 1949.

Julia enjoyed being a homemaker.  She was employed as a nurse for a number of years at Geisinger Medical Center and later as a teller at First National Bank in Danville, from where she retired.

She was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ where she served faithfully in the choir, played piano and was a Sunday School teacher.  Her other memberships included the Community Singers, Geisinger Nurses Alumni Association and The Sight Loss Support Group.

Julia enjoyed music, reading, water aerobics and knitting.  She will be remembered for her storytelling and deeply missed for her warm smile and kindness by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons; Richard E. Hall, Jr and his wife Terry of Lemont PA and James A. Hall and his wife Annie of Coppell TX and two daughters: Julie A. Daley and her husband Tom of The Villages, FL and Judith L. “Judi” Hall of Danville PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and one great grandson to be born later in May.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Sten Johnson, Jr. and two sisters: Lois M. Stout and Carrie E. Balliet.

A Private Celebration of Julia’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.   With respect of Covid 19 Restrictions, friends and family may view her service remotely by Facebook Livestream at www.facebook.com/visneskifh

Burial will be held in Reformed Cemetery in Danville PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Beaver Free Library 317 Ferry Street Danville PA  17821, Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall 1 Maria Hall Drive Danville PA  17821 or Shiloh United Church of Christ Memorial Fund 512 Bloom Road Danville PA  17821.
