Joseph A.
Gallagher, Jr., 67, of Philadelphia PA and with family roots in the Danville
PA area passed away early Monday morning, June 1, 2020 at Temple Hospital -
Jeanes Campus in Philadelphia PA. He was born November 6, 1952 in
Philadelphia the son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hummer
Gallagher.
He was recently
employed in Philadelphia as an Uber Driver for the past three years. He
worked for 20 years as a delivery person for Barry’s Cheesesteaks in
Philadelphia.
He was a member of
St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Manayunk PA. Joe was a sponsor
for Alcoholics Anonymous helping numerous people in their lives.
Joe was an avid
fisherman which gave him great joy in his life. He had a compassionate
heart, kind spirit and sensitive disposition. The people in his life knew
they could always count on him and he was a blessing to all those that his
life touched. He was deeply devoted to his family, all of whom he adored.
He is survived by
Shirley Hummer Gallagher of Philadelphia PA whom he fondly called “Mom”
.Also surviving are two brothers; John F. Gallagher of Plymouth Meeting and
Patrick J. Gallagher of Manayunk PA and one sister, Maria Elena Killen and
her husband Michael of Deptford NJ. Also surviving are two nephews; John
Paul and Michael Joseph and two nieces; Christie Lee and Elizabeth
Katherine.
Relatives and
friends are invited to attend the burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
(use Odd Fellows Cemetery entrance) 1350 Bloom Road in Danville, PA to be
held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 1:00
Because of the
family’s ancestors involved in the development of the church, memorial
contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to St John the Baptist Roman
Catholic Church Restoration Fund 146 Rector Street Philadelphia PA 19127.
Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West
Mahoning Street, Danville, PA 17821.
