John W. Houseman,
Sr., 84, of Danville, PA passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at home
surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 28, 1936, the son of the
late Howard W. and Mary E. Wagner Houseman.
He was married for
58 years to his devoted wife Janice I. Poff Houseman. They were married
October 25, 1961.
John was employed
by Hall’s Trucking as a dock worker for 37 years, from where he retired.
He was a member of
Trinity United Church of Christ in Strawberry Ridge.
John enjoyed
watching Western movies, playing horseshoes, bowling, and reading. His
family was the core of his life and will be remembered as a devoted husband,
father and grandfather.
In addition to
John’s wife, he is also survived by two sons: John W. Houseman, Jr., and his
wife Mary of Post Falls, Idaho; George A. Houseman and his wife Jennifer of
Dalmatia PA and two daughters: Lisa A. Elhajj and her husband Tony of
Manchester PA and Kim M. Nolte and her husband Ken of Middletown PA. Also
surviving are 17 grandchildren; Jeremy, Jennifer, Justin, Jayson, Riley,
Caroline, Jesse, Samantha, Brooke, Amanda, Kyle, Wade, Joshua, Brandon,
Kaitlin, Kensey and Kacie and 12 great-grandchildren; Cheyenne, Kairi,
Rebecca, Salvatore, Luca, Katelyn, Colton, David, Colin, Conner, Jaxon and
Greyson as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by three brothers: Charles Smith, Howard Houseman Jr., and Leroy
Houseman and one sister Daisy Houseman.
A Celebration of
John’s life will be held at a later date.
