Harold Andrew “Butch” Davis, 78, of Danville,
PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 23,
2020 at his residence. He was born May 10, 1942 in Danville PA the son of
the late Charles and Ethel Share Davis.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife
of 37 years, Mary Ann Balcavage Davis. They were married December 30, 1982.
Butch graduated from Danville High School in
1960.
He served his country in the United States Army
from 1960 – 1963.
Butch worked as a psychiatric aide at Danville
State Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1994. In previous years he worked
for Duff Killians Service Center for 16 years and at Weis Market in Danville
PA for seven years.
He was a devoted and active firefighter for
Friendship Fire Company for 50 years where he held the office of
Vice-President for several years and served as Chief Driver of L-19 for the
past 20 years.
Butch enjoyed baking, cooking and growing a
vegetable garden each year. He treasured his time spent with his family
and with his friends in the truck room. One of his favorite pastimes was
playing cards every evening with his wife. His quiet selflessness, dignity,
and service to his community will be missed as he holds a special place in
the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his
children: Wendy Smeal of Danville PA, Scott and his wife Hannah of West
Virginia; Todd and his wife Michelle of Danville PA; Lori Shultz and her
husband Scott of Danville PA; Robert West, Jr. of Riverside PA and Joseph
West, Sr. and his wife Gina of Berwick PA. Also surviving are ten
grandchildren: Matthew Mausteller, D.J. Day, Brandon and Kayla Shultz, Laura
West and Joe, Jr., Jesse and Ashley Davis, Cecelia Davis and Rachel Martz.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two
sister-in-laws; Virginia Davis and June Davis; both of Danville PA.
He was preceded in death by three brothers;
Stan, Ken and Bob Davis and three sisters; Marion St. Clair, Kate Buck and
Pat Doebler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a
Graveside Service to be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Odd
Fellows Cemetery Columbarium 1350 Bloom Road Danville PA with the Reverend
Graham Rogers officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Montour
County Veterans Association.
The family will
