Florence I.
Heitzman, 91, of Sunbury PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23,
2020 at Manor Care in Sunbury PA. She was born February 3, 1929 in Shamokin
PA the daughter of the late Alvin and Emma Sholleck Jones and was also
raised by Mildred Jones.
She was married
for 28 years to Robert Kenneth Heitzman who preceded her in death on April
9, 1978. They were married late September of 1950.
She graduated from
Coal Township High School.
Florence was a
dedicated employee at the Arrow Shirt Factory in Shamokin PA for several
years as a folder and a pinner until the company relocated to the South
Florence was a
member of Salem United Church of Christ in Shamokin PA. Her other
memberships included the Shamokin Moose and The Amalgamated Clothing Workers
of America.
She was an avid
Penn State football fan and traveled to several games. She loved to play
Bingo, going to Knoebel’s and to the beach. One of her favorite past times
was porch sitting and talking with her neighbors. She always looked forward
to her standing hair appointment once a week. After losing her husband
early in their marriage, she lived her life with dignity. Florence’s life
was centered around her home, family and her friends. She will be
remembered by all who knew and loved her as a very generous and selfless
person.
She is survived by
three daughters; Karen Snyder and her husband Jim of Sunbury PA; Kay Worgen
and her husband Michael of Northumberland PA and Kim Doty and her husband
Chris of Hawley PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Erma Lorenz of
Shamokin PA as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded
in death by three sisters; Faye, Shirley and Betty and four brothers; Alvin,
Jr., Jack, Eddie and one brother in infancy as well as one grandson Paul.
A Celebration of
Florence’s life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
