Albert J. “Pops” Churm,78, of Danville, PA,
passed away peacefully Monday evening, September 21, 2020 at his residence
surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 18, 1942 and
was lovingly raised by the late John and Edith Spring.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years,
Philomena Colaneri Churm. They were married March 18, 1968.
Albert served his country in the United States
Army in Germany from 1959 to 1962.
He was employed as a Boiler Engineer at
Danville State Hospital for over 30 years. He also worked for Ted Heaps
Container Service for over 40 years part time, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church
in Danville PA. Albert’s heart for serving people was evident in all he did
for others which included serving on the Zoning Committee in Danville PA,
Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop #47 and member of the Order of the Arrow.
He was advisor to the Boy Scouts Council in Bloomsburg PA. He was also a
member of the Girl Scouts and the Order of the Red Flame. He received The
Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award in 2002. He was a dedicated and
committed 40-year member of the Goodwill Hose Company in Danville where
“Pops” thoroughly enjoyed driving the truck. He was a lifetime member of The
American Legion and a member of the VFW of Danville PA.

Albert enjoyed camping and traveling with his
family, an avid hunter and loved to fish in Canada, especially along the St.
Lawrence River. Albert was a loving husband, father and friend. He would
always lend out a hand to support any of his friends, family or anyone when
the opportunity presented itself. He will be dearly missed by many for his
sense of humor and making others laugh. Albert always made sure to go above
and beyond for everyone he encountered.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one
son, Ken Seay and his wife Christine of Duncannon PA and two daughters:
Linda Heller and her husband Jeff of King of Prussia PA and Deborah
Zimmerman and her husband Donald of Orangeville PA. Also surviving are two
granddaughters, Lauren and Katelyn Boop.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a
Celebration of Albert’s Life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 with
the Reverend Trevor J. Hahn officiating. Masonic services will be held at
1:45 PM. Burial will follow in Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery Danville with
military rites being accorded. A viewing will be held Friday evening,
September 25, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family will
provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s
