Shirley A. Berns

Shirley A. Berns, 78, of Danville, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at her residence.   She was born May 27, 1940 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Edith P. Robbins Baylor.

She graduated from Danville High School in 1958.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Leo James Berns who passed away on March 11, 1992.   

Shirley was employed for 40 years as a Dietary Aide at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA from where she retired.

One of Shirley’s greatest enjoyments in life was traveling to the Casinos with her sister.  She enjoyed staying at home, but after some prompting, she did travel at times under great duress.  Her greatest enjoyment in life was raising her two sons.  She also enjoyed following them and her grandchildren in their numerous sporting events over the years.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Baylor of Danville PA and her two sons; Thomas Berns and his wife Pam of Elysburg PA and Timothy Berns and his wife Robin of Schuylkill Haven PA.  Also surviving are her four grandchildren; Bryan Berns and his wife Kelly of Altamonte Springs FL, Brandon Berns of Verona PA; Brittany Berns of Schuylkill Haven PA and Khyle Berns and his wife Amber of Selinsgrove PA as well as four great-grandchildren; Cassidy Berns, Gage Neifert, Kaitlyn Korzenaski, and Carter James Loreman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Shirley’s Life to be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.
