Nancy Vogt Campbell, 85, of Catawissa PA passed
away surrounded by her family on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Geisinger Medical
Center. She was born April 15, 1934 at home in rural Danville PA, the
daughter of the late Peter A. and Irene Kahler Vogt.
Nancy attended one room Keller’s School and was
the only one in her grade (the lone ranger). She graduated from Danville
High School in 1952 and has remained very active with her classmates.
She married her classmate, Dick Campbell on
September 27, 1952. They were married for 43 years until his death at the
age of 63 on November 18, 1996.
Nancy was employed as a secretary at Danville
State Hospital from 1971 until 1994, from where she retired.
She was an active member of St, John’s (Vought’s)
Lutheran Church in Mayberry Township Danville PA where she served on Council
for many years.
Nancy was an avid reader, was very active
throughout her life, enjoyed swimming at the Danville Area Community Center
and watching the Hallmark Channel. Her life was centered around home, her
family and her friends, all of whom she adored.
She is survived by four children; Cynthia Bird
and her husband Rodney, Debra Cecco, Suzann Hermanski and her husband Jim
and Jon Peter “J.P.” and his fiancé Donna Siminitus. Also surviving are
five grandchildren; Bradley Bird and his wife Nicole, Melissa Bird Stradnick
and her husband Justin, Matthew Bird and his wife Jaclyn, Michelle Adams
Schwartz and her husband Bobbie and Lindsey Adams. She is also survived by
seven great-grandchildren; Leah Schwartz, Danica Schwartz, Madison Stradnick,
Morgan Stradnick, Merin Stradnick, Alexander Bird and Levi Campbell Bird.
Also surviving is one sister, Polly Stark and by one favorite nephew, Gary
Cronrath and three nieces; Judilee, Diane and Pam.
She was preceded in death by her only brother,
Robert K. Vogt in World War II and two sisters; Peggy Doutrick and Louise
Cronrath as well as two nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a
Celebration of Nancy’s Life on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St.
John’s (Vought’s) Lutheran Church 29 High Road Danville PA with her Pastor
MarthaSue Moll officiating. Friends will be received from9:30 AM until 10:45
AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial
