John H. Donegan

John H. Donegan, 85, of Danville, PA passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  He was born November 24, 1933 in Sunbury PA the son of the late Joseph D. and Teresa Henke Donegan. 

He graduated from Sunbury High School. John served his country in the United States Army for 1 Ĺ years in Germany.

He was married to Elizabeth Mahoney Donegan who preceded him in death in 2001.

John was employed at Danville State Hospital and the Laurelton Center from where he retired in 1996.

He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Sunbury while he lived there and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville PA.

John was a Notre Dame fanatic, he loved gardening, especially tomatoes and loved animals.  He was a caring man, selflessly taking care of his brother and his wife during their illnesses.  Above all, he adored his grandchildren and was always ready for another hide and seek game with them.

He is survived by his stepson, Anthony Mahoney and his wife, Judy and two step-daughters; Anne Henrie and her husband Les and Kellie Deibert; all of Danville PA. Also surviving are eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren with one more due in May, as well as numerous cousins. 

John was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Donegan in 2013.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 68 Center Street Danville PA with Reverend James E. Lease as Celebrant. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM in St. Hubertís Chapel at the church.  Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Military rites will be accorded by the Montour County Veteranís Association. 

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or The Danville SPCA 1467 Bloom Road Danville PA 17821
