Elmer L. Willet

October 24, 2019

Elmer L. Willet, 97, of Danville PA passed away peacefully Thursday morning, October 24, 2019 at his residence.  He was born October 26, 1921 in Sunbury PA the son of the late Frank and Flora Hockenbrock Willet. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Phyllis I. Willet whom he married March 7, 1942. 

Elmer served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He earned the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and a World War II Victory Medal. 

Elmer was employed as supervisor in the Nutritional Services Department at Danville State Hospital from 1946 – 1983, from where he retired. 

He was a member of Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church Sunbury PA for over 50 years. 

He enjoyed camping and watching Professional Wrestling. Elmer was an avid Phillies and Eagles Fan, a puzzles fanatic and thoroughly enjoyed his friends and fellowship at the Danville Senior Center.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, all of whom he adored. 

Elmer is survived by one granddaughter, Kasey Bickford and her husband Robert of Danville PA and one grandson, Kyle Willet and his wife Tammy of McSherrystown PA.  He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Morgan Willet.  Also surviving is his daughter-in-law Susan E. Huber and her husband Robert of Bloomsburg PA. 

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry L. Willet on April 5, 1986; and one sister, Helen Willet. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Elmer’s Life  to be held Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Pastor Shawn McNett officiating. Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park Stonington PA.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  The family will provide flowers
