Burrtell E. Metzger, 85, of Danville, PA passed
away on Motherís Day, May 12, 2019, surrounded by her five children at
Bloomsburg Care and Rehab Center in Bloomsburg PA. She was born October 1,
1933 in Stillwater PA the daughter of the late Burr S. Labour and Martha
She graduated from Danville High School in
1951, where she was on the Planning Committee for the Class Reunions.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49
years, Carl W. Metzger who passed away August 23, 2005. They were married
April 28, 1956.
Burrtell was employed for 25 years as a Medical
Records Technician at Geisinger Medical Center Danville, from where she
She was a member of Pine Street Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Danville PA where she served on the church council.
Alongside her husband, Burrtell loved to
travel, square dance, play pinochle and bowl with the Bowling League at the
Danville Elks. She was a Den Mother when her sons were Cub Scouts. She
thoroughly enjoyed canning vegetables and fruits. She enjoyed cooking for
her family and took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother, all of whom she adored.
She is survived by three sons; Flint Metzger
and his wife Cynthia of Danville PA; Brian Metzger and his wife Linda of
Mechanicsburg PA and Kevin Metzger and his wife Kimberly of Danville PA and
two daughters; Carla Wetzel and her husband Daniel of Danville PA and Wendy
Kohut and her husband Pstachu of Oswego NY. Also surviving are 10
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two
sisters, Zoe Ann Burnheimer of Williamsport PA and Melanie Stugart and her
husband Cliff of Cogan Station PA as well as nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a
Celebration of Burrtellís Life to be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 11:00
AM at St. Paulís (Straubís) Lutheran Church 639 Frosty Valley Road Danville
PA with the Reverend Gretchen Johanson officiating. Friends will be received
from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Straubís
Lutheran Cemetery Danville PA.
