Sister Patricia Brenda Toussaint

September 7, 2018

Sister Patricia Brenda Toussaint, 75, of Danville, PA, formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, following a valiant struggle with cancer.  She was born on November 8, 1942 in Georgetown, Guyana, the daughter of the late Herman and Marie Hutchins Toussaint.   

Following completion of high school, Patricia entered the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows in Barbados.  Some years later, she left and joined family members in Washington, D.C. where she worked as a housekeeping supervisor.  She became a citizen of the United States in 1989.  Still experiencing a call to Contemplative Religious Life, in 1994 she joined the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd and professed her final vows in 2002 in Philadelphia.  She served primarily as a cook in her community and was known for her kindness to each Sister.  Sr. Patricia corresponded frequently with family, friends, and persons who had requested prayers.  She enjoyed nature and particularly loved birds. 

.  She is survived by her brother Michael Toussaint and sisters Jacqueline Marie Toussaint, Eslyn Worrel and Pauline Hadley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews to the third generation.  She is also survived by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd working tirelessly in service and prayer around the globe.  Sr. Patricia was preceded in death by her sisters Myrna and Barbara 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Maria Hall, 190 Maria Hall Drive, Danville, PA 17821, with Father Gerard T. Heintzelman as celebrant. Friends and family are invited to a wake at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Sisters of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, 537 Venard Road, Clark Summit, PA 18411.
