Leo E. Ennis

February 28, 2018

Leo E. Ennis, 90, of Selinsgrove PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center.  He was born at home in Standing Stone, Pennsylvania on October 10, 1927, the son of the late Burton Gordon and Charlotte Cole Ennis. 

Leo graduated from Towanda High School in 1946.  He was a member of the Towanda High School Baseball Team where he held a batting average of 498. During his junior and senior years, his team was undefeated. 

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II from September 1946 February 1948 with the 351st Infantry Regiment in Italy. 

He was employed by North Penn Power in 1948 which was later known as Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec).  He was employed by Penelec in Towanda for 20 years in the Accounting Department, as a Meter Reader/Collector and in the Sales Department.  In 1968, Penelec promoted him to District Manager and was transferred to Tunkhannock PA where he worked 20 more years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement he worked as a part-time salesman for Sherwood Chevrolet in Tunkhannock.  In recent years, he worked part-time as a driver for Sunbury Motors in Sunbury PA.   

Leo thoroughly enjoyed volunteering as a Little League Coach in Towanda for many years.  Leo was well known as an avid New York Yankees fan and especially for his warm smile and friendly nature.  He was very proud of all of the accomplishments of his children, whom he adored. 

He was a faithful and devoted husband for 64 years to the love of his life, Constance Robbins Ennis, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2010.  They were married on October 19, 1946.  Leo was a devoted father to his five children who survive him; Dr. Len E. Ennis and his wife Cecelia of Timonium, Maryland, Jon Robin Ennis and his wife Julie of St. Cloud, Florida; Conaley J. Visneski and her husband Gary of Shamokin Dam PA; Jeremy E. Ennis of Naples, Florida and Angelique M. Heigle and her husband Dick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was the last of his immediate family, being preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Tuesday, March 6, 2017 at 11:30 AM at V. L. Seebold Funeral Home 601 North High Street, Selinsgrove, PA with George Vacca, a valued personal friend of the family, officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 11:30 AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA where full Military Rites will be accorded.
