Arlene Betty Fisher

October 22, 2018

Arlene Betty Fisher, 94, of Danville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville.  She was born June 29, 1924 in Danville PA, the daughter of the late Ray and Grace Gotschal Garman.

She graduated from Danville High School.

Arlene was married for 61 years to the late Kenneth William Fisher whom she married September 4, 1943.

She was employed at Danville State Hospital as a psychiatric aide for 35 years, from where she retired.

Arlene was a member of St. Paulís (Straubís) Lutheran Church Danville PA where she served as a Sunday School teacher.  She enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader.  She loved traveling to Canada and camping there with her family.  She was an avid reader, loved taking bus trips and playing pinochle with her sisters.  Arleneís greatest joy in life came from spending quality time with her family, whom she adored. 

Arlene is survived by: two daughters; Darlene Elaine Gerst of Danville PA and Pamela Jean McBride of Gainesville VA; one grandson, Joshua Roberts and three great-grandchildren; Logan, Tanner and Trevor Gerst .  Also surviving is one sister, Eldoras Martz of Buckhorn PA; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Albert Kenneth Gerst, Jr.; one grandson, Albert Kenneth Gerst, III; one brother Lawson Garman, and one sister, Nancy Heller.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Arleneís Life to be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paulís (Straubís) Lutheran Church 639 Frosty Valley Road Danville PA with Pastor Vicky Schaffner officiating. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM -10:45 AM.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
