Walter Alan Schenck

Walter Alan Schenck, of Danville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA.  He was born in Belleville, NJ on June 18, 1929, the son of the late Howard and Beatrice Morrison Schenck.   

Alan was married to Eleanor Amato Schenck for 38 years, prior to her passing in 1989.   

After graduation from Belleville High School, Alan served time in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, NC.  Alan was the owner of Madison Television in New Jersey for 28 years, where he sold and serviced home electronic equipment.  Upon his retirement in 1989, he moved to Danville, and married Virginia “Ginni” Young  Schenck in 1998, who survives.   Together they enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking in the outdoors of Pennsylvania and surrounding states with their dog, Gus, who was Alan’s special buddy.   

He is also survived by his children, including sons Steven of Boonton Township NJ, Russell and his wife Michelle of Warsaw IN, and daughter Karen and her husband Mark of Cincinnati, Ohio.  He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his loving grandchildren Garrett, Logan, Keaton, Eleanor, and Michael.    Alan was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Russell, Robert and Howard, and his sister Allene.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Alan’s life on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, 10 West Mahoning Street, Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 until the time of service.  Immediately following will be the burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Danville.  Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Danville PA.
