Ruth V. Herman Krum

Ruth V. Herman Krum, 101, of Danville PA went home to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph Manor Danville PA.  

She was born November 14, 1915 in Montour County PA the daughter of late Morgan John and Margaret Kashner Herman.  Her family began the Herman Dairy Farm which was highly known for horse and buggy milk delivery for many years.  

Ruth was married to the love of her life for 68 years, Clyde W. Krum, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2001.  They were married September 3, 1933. 

Along with being a helpmate to her husband on the family farm and trucking business and a devoted homemaker throughout her life, she was employed at Geisinger Medical Center in the Dietary Department from where she retired.    

She was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church Riverside PA.  Ruth was also a member of the Elkettes, Eastern Star and also a longtime member of the Valley Grange.  Ruth was a very social person and her involvement in various other organizations is notable.    

Ruth was an avid traveler with her husband to many local places and together they visited 50 states and Mexico.  She also enjoyed playing pinochle.  Her hospitality was evident  throughout all the times she opened her home to serve, cook, and entertain her friends. She was well known by her family for her remarkable cooking and baking skills.  Her family will always treasure the family holidays and dinners of up to 30 or more of her loved ones gathered around her table.  Ruth cared deeply about her husband, lived her life in full dedication to her family, whom she adored,  and treasured her many friends. Ruth was truly an amazing woman who will be greatly missed and forever remembered by many. 

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Hummer and her husband Donald of Danville PA.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Also surviving is one sister, Sarah Herman Crossley and one brother, Thomas Herman; both of Danville PA.   

She was preceded in death by one daughter; Thelma M. Welliver on August 22, 2011. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; Mildred Hawk, Mary Cooke and Anna Phillips and two brothers; John and James Herman. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ruth's Life to be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:30 AM at St. Peter's United Methodist Church  240 Sunbury Road Riverside PA with the Reverend Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM at the church.   The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's United Methodist Church PO Box 428 Riverside PA  17868  or  Emmanuel Nursing Center 600 Schoolhouse Road Danville PA.
