E. Fry, 90, a lifelong Danville area resident, passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his residence. He
was born January 28, 1927 in Danville PA the son of the late Harry N. and
Jennie M. Rudy Fry.
would have been married 63 years this Sunday, March 12 to the love of his
life, Patricia B. Reilly whom he adored. They were married on March 12,
graduated from Danville High School in 1946. Marvin attended the
Horological Institute in Pittsburgh PA, becoming a watchmaker/jeweler.
served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinistís Mate
3-C during World War II.
employed by Danville State Hospital for 38 years as a Canteen Manager, from
where he retired in 1984. Marvin was then employed part-time at the Guard
House at Merck and Company as a contract Guard for 15 years, retiring in
1999. In addition, he served his community repairing watches, jewelry and
was a member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church. His other
memberships included Friendship Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company,
Danville Elks, Danville Moose, American Legion Post 40, Danville-Mahoning
Lodge #224 F & AM, and the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg PA.
enjoyed cruises, bowling, flying as private pilot and especially enjoyed
spending time at the Goodwill Hunting Club. Marvin was a loving husband,
devoted father and grandfather, tenderhearted and kind man who was loved
deeply by his family and friends.
addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Mark Fry and one daughter,
Holly Berkey and her husband Tim; all of Danville PA; and three
grandchildren; Tyler, Trevor and Troy Patterson. Also surviving is one
brother; Charles E. Fry and his wife Carolyn of Danville PA. He is also
survived by several nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by
three brothers; Kenneth Miller, John Fry and Ray Fry.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held
Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West
Mahoning Street Danville PA with his pastor, the Reverend Dr. Lois Martin
officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA where
military rites will be accorded. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM
until 11:15 AM at which time Masonic services will be held.
The family will
