Daniel J. Lyons

Daniel J. Lyons, 82, formerly of West Mahoning Street Danville PA passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. He was born December 30, 1934 in Mahoning Township PA the son of the late Daniel Edward and Alice R. Haunty Lyons Dietz. 

He was married for 11 years to Corinne ďReneeĒ Weaver Lyons.  They were married on June 29, 2005. 

He graduated from Danville High School in 1952.  He attended Bucknell University and graduated from Wilkes College with a Bachelorís Degree in Industrial Engineering. 

Dan served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957 as an equipment maintenance technician. 

He was employed as an Industrial Engineer for AMP in Harrisburg PA from where he retired.  Dan was also self-employed with Lyons Electric in Danville PA.  He also held a commercial pilotís license serving Merck and Company. 

Dan was a member of the Danville Moose and served on various committees at the Danville-Riverside Airport. 

Being very multitalented, Dan had many enjoyments during his life including working amateur radio, tinkering in his shop, creating photographic DVDís and skiing in Vermont.  He loved to travel extensively which included traveling throughout Europe and to Alaska.  Dan especially enjoyed hosting pool parties for his friends and his family. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and especially enjoyed early morning donut runs to his great-nieces which will never be forgotten.    

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one step-daughter; Corinne Peterman of Arlington VA, one brother, Thomas F. Lyons and his wife Laraine of Danville PA and one sister, Margaret Thomas of Atlantic City NJ.  He is also survived by one niece, Linda Lyons Paugh and her husband James L. Paugh of Danville PA and two nephews Thomas Lyons and his wife Amy of Moorestown NJ and Brian Thomas and his wife Beverly of Hatboro PA.  Also surviving are four great-nieces; Alyssa, Jessica and Jamie Paugh and Harper Lyons and one great-nephew, Hayden Lyons as well as step-nieces, step-nephews, great-step-nieces and great-step-nephews. 

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward J. Lyons on October 14, 1992. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 18 Center Street Danville with the Reverend James E. Lease as Celebrant. Friends will be received in St. Hubert Chapel from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery Danville PA.  Military rites will be accorded by the Montour County Veteranís Association and the Air Force Honor Guard.
