Marie A. Adams,
98, a longtime resident of Danville, passed away at Emmanuel Nursing Center
at Maria Joseph in Danville PA on September 3, 2016, where she had been a
guest since May 2015.
Marie was born
in Berwick on March 19, 1918, the daughter of Lester and Jennie Bauer
Deitrick. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, George Adams, Sr., in

Danville since the age of one, after graduating from Danville High School in
1936 Marie enrolled in the Pennsylvania State Registered Nursing program.
After completing her training in Philadelphia and receiving her R.N.
license, Marie worked at Danville State Hospital her entire career, retiring
in the mid-70s.
survived by her son, Dr. George Adams, Jr., his wife, Judith Yohn Adams, and
two grandchildren, Amy Y and Robin Y. Adams, all of Danville. In addition to
her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by sisters Helen Craig,
Dorothy Hess, Margaret Lutz, and brothers, Leroy and Walter Deitrick.
Marie was a
lifelong member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church in Danville PA.
with Marie’s wishes, private services were held, followed by interment at
Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA. For those wishing to do so, donations in
