Christian Ryan, Jr., 79, of 15 Sugarcamp Road, Danville, PA passed away
Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home in Danville PA. He was born September
2, 1936 in Danville, PA, the son of the late Calvin Christian, Sr. and
Bertha Mae (Rudy) Ryan.
was a graduate of Danville Area High School class of 1955. He then attended
Bloomsburg State Teachers College, where he studied Business Education,
receiving his BA degree in 1959.
was married to Joyce E. (Fisher) Ryan for 55 years. They were married on
December 17, 1960.
a United States Navy Officer from 1959 until 1993, serving four years on
active duty then 29 years in the Naval Reserves. Calvin retired as a
Commander in 1993.
employed as a Business Education teacher with the Montgomery Area School
District from 1963 until 1993.
was a member of The Danville Moose, The American Legion, St. Peter's United
Methodist Church and the Danjo Wheelers.
enjoyed spending time; fishing, boating, camping, golfing and traveling the
world with his wife, Joyce. Calvin's greatest enjoyment in life was spending
time with his family.
survived by his beloved wife Joyce; two daughters; Cynthia Ryan of
Riverside, PA and Michele Frye and husband Ronald of Springfield, VA and one
son, Wayne Ryan and wife Candy of Mifflinville, PA. Calvin is also survived
by nine grandchildren; Caitlyn, Alanna, Aaron (children of Cynthia),
Jessica, Kevin, and Alyssa (children of Wayne), Stephen, Sean and Caleb
(children of Michele), and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by
two sisters; Minnetta Shenck and Maybelle Reamer, both of Riverside, PA.
with his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by siblings John (Al),
Cameron, Melvin, William, James, Barbara, and Rosie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Calvin's Life
to be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00PM at St. Peter's United
Methodist Church, 240 Sunbury Road, P.O. Box 428, Riverside, PA 17868 with
the Reverend Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating. Burial will be private at the
convenience of the family. Military rites will be accorded by American
Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.
