Harry Grier Snyder

Harry Grier Snyder, 85, of St. Augustine FL and formerly of Danville PA departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Clyde Lassen Veterans Nursing Home in St. Augustine FL where he had resided for three years.   He was born September 3, 1929 in Danville PA the son of the late Harry J. and Hilda P. Shultz Snyder. 

Harry attended Danville High School.  He served his country in the United States Navy as a Radio Operator Third Class during the Korean War and World War II. 

He was married for 63 years to the late Beverly Lou Quartermain Snyder who preceded him in death on August 7, 2012. 

Harry managed dry cleaning stores, mostly in the Massachusetts area and was the owner of Penn Cleaners in Catawissa, Danville and Northumberland PA. 

He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 541 in Catawissa PA and a member of the Danville Elks.

Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

He is survived by one son, Harry K. Snyder and his wife Linda of Bloomsburg PA and one daughter, Pamela G. Snyder Brown and her husband Ron of St. Augustine FL.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.   Also surviving is one brother Terry S. Snyder and his wife Carol of Tavares FL. 

A special heartfelt thank you is extended to the residents and staff of the Clyde Lassen Veterans Nursing Home for their compassionate care and honorable recognition of his service to our country. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life to be held Thursday,  July 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Melody Sell Washingtonville Lutheran Church officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

Burial will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville. PA.  Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
