Vorie F. Sheatler

Vorie F. Sheatler, 86, of 225 Valley West Road Danville PA passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 18, 2015 at his residence.  He was born April 12, 1928 in Anthony Township PA  the son of the late Lloyd and Martha Wintersteen Sheatler.   

He graduated from Danville High School in 1947.   

He was married for 65 years to Bernice A. Barnhart Sheatler whom he married December 10, 1949. 

He was employed as a Lab Technician by Merck and Company Riverside PA, retiring in 1988. 

Vorie was a member of St. Paul's- Emmanuel United Methodist Church Danville PA.  His other memberships included the Danville Moose, Danville Elks, East End Fire Company and the Buckhorn Hunting Camp.  He also enjoyed attending Silver Sneakers at the Danville Area Community Center Danville PA. 

Vorie was an avid hunter.  He especially enjoyed all of the family trips and family gatherings throughout his life and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he admired and adored. 

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters; Elaine Showalter and her husband Stephen of Danville PA and Cynthia K. Bishop of Elysburg PA.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Stephanie Otts, Esquire and John Wesley Showalter, M.D.; both of Mississippi.  He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Abigail, Anna, John Andrew, Ava Joy and Adeline. 

He was preceded in death by one brother James Sheatler and his son-in-law, Reynold J. "Renny" Bishop on May 1, 2013. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA  with Pastor Greg Molter officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
