Robert J. Davis, 94, of Danville PA died peacefully Thursday morning, May
22, 2014 at Millville Healthcare Center Millville PA. He was born June 14,
1919 in Mooresburg PA the son of the late William H. and Nellie E. Walters
He graduated from Danville High School in 1937. Bob served his country as a
staff sergeant in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
He was employed as a lathe operator for 44 years by Kennedy Van Saun,
Danville PA, retiring in 1984.
Bob was a member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church Danville PA where he served
as an elder. He was a 50 year member of Danville-Mahoning Lodge #224 F & AM
and a lifetime member of the Danville American Legion. He was a former 50
year member of the Danville Elks where he thoroughly enjoyed being a part of
the Elks Bowling League.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and
especially enjoyed attending the games at Yankee Stadium. One of his
greatest joys in life was traveling and camping with his wife and spending
his winters in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edyth Snyder Davis whom he married
June 28, 1947. Also surviving are two daughters; Virginia Tanner of
Harrisonburg VA and Linda Morrisey and her husband William of Riverside
PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Kathy Tanner and her husband
Joe Timidaiski; Kelly Scott and her husband Jeffrey; Kristine Siguenza,
Karen Tanner, Jennifer Weaver and her husband Bob and Chris Morrisey and
four great-grandchildren; Layne Timidaiski, Jordan Weaver, Liam Weaver and
Kiersten Morrisey. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by one brother; Frank W. Davis and two sisters; Rachel
Davis and Anna M. Davis. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held
Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West
Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend R. Christian Dunlap, Hospice
chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville
PA. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard. The
family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Mahoning
