Ruth O. Trapane

February 15, 2014

Ruth O. Trapane, 68, of 2211 Shasta Drive Bloomsburg PA passed away peacefully Friday morning February 14 2014.  She was born July 18, 1945 in Danville PA the daughter of Richard Day of Huntersville PA and the late Oda Sager Day. 

She graduated from Danville High School and continued her education at Bloomsburg University where she graduated with two Masters’ degrees; one in Early Childhood Education and one in Art.  She received her All But Dissertation from Nova Southeastern University in Florida in Information Technology. 

Ruth was employed by the Berwick School District where she was a well known and loved Kindergarten teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1997. 

Her memberships included North Mountain Art League and the  International Association of Astronomical Artists.  In 1995, her artwork circled the earth 3,000 times on the Mir Space Station, Euromir. 

Ruth’s enjoyments during her life were manifold.  She traveled extensively with a special love of Europe, especially Italy.  Her gardens were frequently visited and admired by many of her friends and family.  Ruth always kept up to date with the most current technology.  She was certified as an Advanced Scuba Diver and traveled to many beautiful tropical places where she experienced the beauty beneath the ocean.  Artwork was Ruth’s passion and anyone can enjoy her love for art by visiting her website www.ruthtrapane.com.  Her greatest enjoyment in her life was spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored. 

She is survived by her husband, best friend and caretaker of 28 years, Philip B. Trapane.  They were married August 23, 1985.    

Ruth will be greatly missed by her two sons; Michael W. Correll and his fiancé Ja’Ney VanBuskirk of Panama City Beach FL and Timothy R. Correll and his wife Angela of Rome NY.  She will also be greatly missed by her two grandsons; Brent Correll and Brock Correll.   

Also surviving is her step-son,Sean Trapane of Missisippi.  She is also survived by  Brooke Trapane of Berwick PA and  her step-daughter, Bridget Trapane and her husband Joshua Lange of Linfield PA.  Also surviving are three step-grandchildren; Gianni and Isabella Trapane and Philip J. Lange.   

She is also survived by one brother, Richard Day and his wife Karen and three sisters; Linda Ritter and her husband Raymond; Carol Morgan and her husband Bob and Cathy Day, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland and the Reverend Dawes E. Dunhan officiating.  Burial will be private at Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA.  Friends will be received from 10:45 AM until 11:45 AM at the church.  Because of Ruth’s love for flowers, they would be gratefully received for the services at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia Montour Home Hospice 410 Glenn Avenue Suite 200 Bloomsburg PA  17815.
