Rutth Ann Montague

April 14, 2014

Ruth Ann Montague, 82, of 109 East Front Street Danville PA, where she had resided since 1960,  passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at her residence.  She was born January 7, 1932 in Danville PA, the youngest daughter of the late G. Edgar Montague and Glendor McWilliams Montague. 

She graduated from Danville High School in 1949 and from Bloomsburg University in 1954.  

She was formerly employed by Merck and Company and later as a teacher

in Jefferson, Lancaster and Lycoming counties before being employed by the Danville School District for 29 years.  

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the church Council as well as numerous committees.   

She was an avid tennis player and she loved to read.  Ruth Ann will always be remembered by her friendly smile and cheerful wave as she daily walked her dog and her cat.  She enjoyed helping others and was always willing to help in any way she could.   

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  She served as a mentor for Jennifer McWilliams, Donna Driscoll as well as other young girls.  Ruth Ann was the last member of her immediate family.  She was preceded in death by five brothers; Kenneth, Ervil, George, Joseph and Robert  and four sisters; Catherine Berger Gerringer, Mary Bausch, Martha, in infancy and Caroline Everett. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church 215 East Market Street Danville PA with the Reverend Chad Hebrink officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Danville PA.  Memorial contributions in Miss Montague's honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund PO Box 417 Danville PA 17821 or Thomas Beaver Free Library 205 Ferry Street Danville PA.
