Martha Mary Knight

September 25, 2014

Martha Mary Knight,79, of Riverside PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her family on her birthday, Thursday, September 25, 2014, at her residence.  She was born September 25, 1935 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Williams Diehl. 

She was married for 44 years to the Late James A. Knight who preceded her in death December 7, 1996. 

She attended Danville Schools.  Martha was employed as a chemical operator at Merck, Inc. from where she retired.  She had previously worked at several jobs in the Danville area including waitressing at the Pine Barn Inn and Old Hardware Restaurant.

She attended Hendrickson United Methodist Church as a child, St. Peter's United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church. 

Martha had a wide variety of enjoyments in her life including golfing with her husband, flower gardening, especially roses, and loved to travel.   Her gift of hospitality was evident to many with her home being opened wide and frequently to her many friends and her family.  She loved cooking.  Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending quality time with her family and friends, whom she adored.     

She is survived by two sons; Reverend John E. Knight and his wife Cora of Hong Kong and Jason E. Knight and his wife Sandra of Danville PA and two daughters; Patricia A. Connolley and her husband Kevin of Wilmington NC and Dianne K. Reynolds and her husband John of Dunwoody GA.    She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.   

Also surviving are four sisters and five brothers.  She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory, in infancy, four brothers and two sisters. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Martha's Life to be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Route 642 East) Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by her son, the Reverend John E. Knight. Burial will follow in Hendrickson United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 1:00 until 2:45 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to House of Manasseh Ephraim, a children's home project in Tiberias, Israel.   Donations may be mailed to H.O.M.E. 3682 Zoo Parkway Ashboro NC  27205.
