Jon Robert Beyer

September 30, 2014

Jon Robert Beyer, 69, of Riverside PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville PA.

He was born September 30, 1944 in Danville PA, the son of the late Robert and Myra B. Lenker Beyer.

He was married for 46 years to Linda R. Webber Beyer.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1962.

Jon served his country from 1964 through 1970 with the Army National Guard of PA and as a reserve in the United States Army.

He was a self-employed business owner of South Danville Lumber Company and later Beyer Paint and Wallpaper, before retiring in August 2012.

Jon was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville PA where he faithfully served on two menís fellowship groups.  He had an enduring love for God and commitment to service, inspiring others with a humble and generous spirit. He cherished every day and marveled over the beauty and intricacy of God's creation.  He was happiest amidst that creation, working outside with his tractor or in his garden.  He delighted in working with his hands, in the kitchen cooking, and repairing and maintaining his home.  In his joyful stewardship of his home and his family he lived out his gratitude for God's blessings and shared those blessings with others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sue Anne Beyer Lau, and her husband Daniel Leo Lau of Lexington KY, and one son, Peter Beyer of Baltimore MD.

He is also survived by his granddaughter, Eva Amanda Lau.  Also surviving is one brother Frank Beyer of Malvern PA and two sisters; Sally Beyer of Danville PA and Jill Beyer-Torres of Bloomsburg PA.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jon's Life to be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church, 20 Brookside Drive (Route 642 East), Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend Dawes Dunham.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
