Jean L. Forney

Jean L. Forney, 85, of 8 Railroad Street Danville passed away quietly Monday, July 14, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville.  She was born November 10, 1928 in the family homestead on West Market Street in Danville the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Ross Forney. 

She was a member of the 1946  graduating class of Danville High School.   

Jean was employed by Follmer Trucking Company for 6 years and also employed by Kennedy Van Saun/Svedala Industries  for 44 years where she was secretary of Sales and Notary Public. 

She was a member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church Danville PA where she served as Deaconess and Elder.  She and was Secretary/Treasurer of the AJBC and President of the WIBC of Danville for many years. 

She loved music and enjoyed singing.  She sang with the Jimmy Hardacher's Orchestra in her younger years.  Jean also enjoyed bowling. Jean was also well known as a volunteer for the American Red Cross 

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved including Sue Barchik, Jane Davis and Nicholas Harrison, Carol Carlough, Becky Crider and family; Dr. Martha Carlough, Dr. Leslie Carlough, Benson Stephens, Heath Stephens, Jessa Stephens, Dick Forney, Thomas Forney, Robert Forney, James Forney, Frank Everett, Dorothy Jean Maloyed and Ruth Louise Conner.  Also surviving is her beloved dog and companion, Sam. 

.Jean was preceded in death by her sisters; Dorothy Stephens, Mary Pickin, Anna Everett, Bess Johnson, Barbara Conner and Bernice Forney and her brothers Charles “Sam” Forney and Robert Forney. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at  Mahoning Presbyterian Church 100 East Mahoning Street Danville with the Reverend Graham Rogers officiating.  Burial will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions  may be made to  the church.
