Ethel Cotner Margargle, 78

September 23, 2013

Ethel Cotner Magargle,78, of 108 N. Ardmoor Avenue Danville PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She was born March 10, 1935 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Elwood M. and Caroline Dye Cotner. 

She graduated from North Mont High School in 1953.  She was employed as a bookkeeper by JJ Newberry and McVey's Furniture of Danville PA.  She was also employed by Fishers of Men in Danville PA. 

Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where she served on the usher team and was an active member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed attending Christian Women's Club in earlier years.  She was a lifetime member of California Grange #941 in Limestoneville PA where she served in many offices.  Ethel also served as the Treasurer for the Montour County Senior Center where she was active for many years. 

Ethel loved crafting, especially knitting and sewing and was very creative in making crafts for her family and organizations.  She was especially fond of her little white poodle companion, Mia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald E. Magargle on November 10, 2012. They were married June 14, 1953.  Also surviving is her son, Roger and his wife Carol of Aliquippa PA.  She is also survived by two granddaughters; Christine and Stacey and one great-granddaughter, Kendall. Also surviving are two sisters; Mary Lou Murray and her husband Joseph of Washingtonville PA and Nancy Schultz of Allentown PA.   Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

A Celebration of Ethel's Life will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Off 642 East) Danville PA with her pastor, the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating.  Burial will be held in the Muncy Cemetery Muncy PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.  Grange services will be held at 9:45 AM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Montour County Senior Center 500 West Mahoning Street Danville PA 17821.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
