Raymond T. Homiak

May 8, 2013

Raymond T. Homiak, 87, of Mercy Road, Catawissa, PA, went home to be with his Jewish Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013. He was born May 20th, 1925 in Slabtown, PA, at the home of his parents, the late Stief and Adele Homiak.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Emily Yodis Homiak, whom he married November 27, 1948. Emily grew up in Mt Carmel.

Ray attended Numidia area schools. He proudly served with the United States Navy Seabees in the Pacific Rim during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1946. He was self-employed as a truck driver for forty years, started Homiak’s Christmas Tree Farm in 1956, and was a jack-of-all-trades.

Ray loved serving the Lord and reading the Bible. He had a God given love for Israel and the Hebrew people. He and Emily traveled to Israel in 2004. They went throughout the land and prayed; also on the walls of Jerusalem, worshipping the Lord and encouraging the people of Israel. He was an intercessor for Israel and daily prayed Psalm 122 over Jerusalem and the Shema from Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29. Ray was a member of Messiah’s Fellowship and the Elijah Prayer Army.

Ray enjoyed campfires with family, tending his garden and mowing the farm, watching birds at his numerous feeders, and watching Nascar racing and football.

Also surviving are three daughters and two sons: Elaine Barnhart and husband Michael of Slabtown, Janet Gilbert and husband Larry of Slabtown, Michael Homiak and wife Donna of Roaring Creek Township, Emily Ann Carl and husband Tom of Hegins, and Raymond Homiak and wife Peggy of Slabtown. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Albert Homiak.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family, and are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
