Ray C. Fry

June 22, 2013

Ray C. Fry, 88, of 25 Landau Road Danville PA passed away Friday morning, June 21, 2013 at his residence.  He was born May 4, 1925 in Danville PA the son of the late Harry N. and Jennie M. Rudy Fry.   

He was married for 61 years to Bette Fry who preceded him in death 

He graduated from Danville High School in 1943.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bloomsburg University and his Master’s degree from Bucknell University. Ray also completed graduate study at Kansas University and Penn State University.   

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II where he flew in the B-17 Flying Fortress in the European area.  He was a prisoner of war for several months after being shot down over Berlin. 

Ray was employed by the Big Spring School District in Newville PA for 32 years as a Business Teacher, Department Head, Principal and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction.  He co-authored several research studies for professional educational magazines. 

Ray was a member of the Pine Street Lutheran Church Danville PA.  He was a member of the PA Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Member of Academy of American Educators, Past President of Phi Delta Kappa –Shippensburg University Chapter.  He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Danville Elks Lodge, The Danville VFW.  He was a member of F & AM Lodge #361 Newville PA and received his 50 year pin from the Danville-Mahoning Lodge #224 F & AM.  

He is survived by his only daughter, Melany Fry Robbins and her husband Robert of Hatboro PA and two grandsons; Jason and Corey Robbins. and five great-grandchildren. 

Also surviving are two brothers; Marvin E. Fry and his wife Patricia and Charles E. Fry and his wife Carolyn, both of Danville PA.  He was preceded in death by one brother, John Fry and his sister-in-law Sue Fry.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Melody Sell officiating.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Geisinger Hospice 100 Academy Drive MC-11 Danville PA  17822.     www.visneski.com
